What’s Included in a Creative Non-Fiction Course?
There are a number of different modules involved in The Writing District’s creative non-fiction class. This class will guide the student through different forms of this genre, covering all the essentials of creative non-fiction and offering plenty of opportunities to practice with exercises and more.
The first week will explore what creative non-fiction is, taking the participant through the basics of the genre, and allowing them to write a short creative non-fiction piece of their own. In the second week, the focus is on creating non-fiction ‘characters’, and how you can use them to engage the reader.
In the third week, the focus moves onto what makes a good setting in creative non-fiction, guiding learners through creating a non-fiction setting of their own. The fourth week focuses on the different forms of creative non-fiction and how to write a personal narrative of your own.
In the last two weeks of the class, you will learn how to write a subjective review and write your own memoir. There will be lots of advice incorporated from different authors to help the participant write the most personal form of creative non-fiction.
